Garcia's is famed for its exceptionally delicious dishes that celebrate the vibrant flavors of Mexico. Customers like Brittany rave about the breakfast tacos and the must-try brisket taco, a perfect introduction for anyone new to this beloved eatery. Those crispy but soft tortillas wrap around juicy, tender brisket, invoking that nostalgic feeling of grandma's cooking.

Garcia’s is always amazing. There is usually a crowd of people waiting, but they have speedy and great service, so the wait is never too long. I brought a friend from out of state to try their very first (breakfast) taco and the brisket taco (a must get every time I visit Garcia’s), and they were absolutely in love. They also tried bean and cheese nachos and were obsessed with how flavourful the beans are. As a San Antonio native, Garcia’s consistency of making delicious, affordable food and providing friendly service makes it one of my favourite Mexican restaurants in the city.
Very small, BUT GREAT RESTAURANT! There's usually a wait, but it generally moves along well and is definitely worth the wait. I've tried the pork carne Guisada, brisket taco with Avacado, enchilada plate, and fideo Loco. These dishes were on 2 different visits. The wait staff is nice and very attentive. I'll definitely be returning again.
This place is not very big. It was busy and packed when I arrived. Once you are on a list they will call your name, surprisingly it did not take long. Ordered the brisket plate and an enchilada plate. Complementary chips and salsa were delivered to our table. In short time our plates arrived. One taste of the brisket and I could tell this was done right and was cooked perfectly. This plate came with choice of tortillas (flower), rice, refried beans, and salad topped with guacamole. Everything was delicious. On the enchiladas plate it came with two enchiladas with fresh cut onions sprinkled on top of the sauce, rice, refried beans. This plate was also exceptionally tasty. The service even though it was busy was excellent. The interior you can tell is older but with a Mexican decor, pictures, and awards that added a unique charm to the place. It looks like this is a family run business that takes pride in what they do and you can clearly taste it in the food. Easy 5 stars and highly recommend for a true San Antonio Mexican food experience.
Great food and service. Waitress was soo friendly and helpful with the menu. Brisket tacos are a must! The plates are delicious as well!
Solid breakfast lunch for Mexican fare. I had huevos rancheros (not pictured) and the brisket with guac taco. Tasted like my grandma made it and that was enough for me. Brisket had that nice Smokey flavor without being too unbearable. Simplicity at its greatest.
We visited Garcia’s for the first time today. Heard about it from the New York Times of all places in a top 23 food selections in the USA. WOW. We were not disappointed. We both had the NYT recommended brisket taco. I had two actually. The brisket was so good I’d put it up against the best I’ve had — smoky, tender and great bark. A smear of guac on the provided pico de gallo with green hot sauce and AWESOME. we also got the spicy pinto boracho bean side which was homemade and delicious. When we arrived there were as many people outside waiting for a table as there were seated inside eating. But it was a happy crowd all around. No one minded waiting. No one tarried at a table after eating. Service people couldn’t have been better.
I was finally able to eat at this restaurant. I'm on vacation and I would normally get off work past 2pm. Today I said we're going to check it out. The brisket taco was the best brisket I've ever eaten. The meat was tender and flavored with the right amount of seasoning. The enchiladas and rice and beans and the tortillas were delicious. We will be back to get the family package for New Year's Eve and will enjoy this bringing in the Year!
We found this place listed as the #1 Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. That set the bar really high! We were not disappointed! Even my wife couldn’t stop saying how amazing it was. You have got to get the brisket taco, but even the bacon and egg one was unbelievable. I love chorizo tacos. I was very happy with mine until a had everything else. I couldn’t believe how good everything were had was.
